Repertoire Update July 2019

Repertoire Update July 2019

This month we’ve again expanded the SmartMusic repertoire library with more than 100 additions, including new solos and large ensemble titles. We’ve also swapped the music in SmartMusic’s Free Library and made a handful of titles available to anyone (even folks who have yet to sign up for SmartMusic).

New Solos

We’ve added 123 new solos to new SmartMusic this month. View them here

New Large Ensemble Titles

For July we’ve added 15 new large ensemble titles for concert band, string orchestra, and choir. See them all

Expanding the Free Library

New SmartMusic includes an “Essential Content” library that is available to all SmartMusic users, even students using SmartMusic for free. Included are exercises, sight-reading tools, select state scales, Sound Innovations, book 1 for both band and orchestra, and a handful of ensemble and solo titles.

To keep this collection fresh, we’ve been regularly swapping in new titles for old. We did this in January, April, and again for July. Included this quarter are four pieces each for band, orchestra, choir, and jazz ensemble, plus a book of solos and a sight-singing method. See the Summer 2019 additions to the free library for the details.

Experience SmartMusic as a Student with One Click

As we did in January and April, we’re also making a subset of these free titles available to everyone; even to people who haven’t signed up for SmartMusic for free. Now, simply by clicking on a link, anyone can experience what new SmartMusic is like from the perspective of a student. To see what this means, click on one of the titles below – you’ll simply find yourself in the new SmartMusic, where you can play that selected title. (Here are some tips for playing and practicing with SmartMusic.)

Title Comp/Arr Publisher Ensemble Level

Note that after opening any of the titles above, you can navigate to music for different instruments (or different movements) by using drop-down menus at the top of the screen.

Why This Matters

While this may not seem thrilling if you already have a SmartMusic subscription, it does allow you to send a link to anyone with whom you’d like to share the idea of SmartMusic. You might send a link to parents, students, administrators, or fellow educators; anyone who might be interested in what SmartMusic offers, but for whom signing up for a free trial might have represented a hurdle in the past.
