People often ask how difficult it is to create your own SmartMusic accompaniments in Finale.

In order to test our upcoming SmartMusic 2011 I recently created some accompaniments from a band score I’d written. Here are the steps I used in Finale 2011:

1. I opened my band score.
2. From the File menu I selected Export to SmartMusic.
3. I chose Assessment, then clicked Next, Next, Next, Finish.
4. I saved the file to my desktop.

Done. Now if I double-click on the resulting file it opens in SmartMusic! Our Sales team often demonstrates this process at conventions, because it really is that fast and easy.
