Composition Notes:

“Red Rhythmico” is a jazz-rock piece that infuses straight-ahead rhythmic intensity with jazz and rock melodies and chord voicings. Every player in the orchestra plays challenging lines, and there are great solo lines for two violins and two cellos.

“Red Rhythmico” was written as a continuation of my earlier “Blue Rhythmico” ideas. It is intended to be a rhythmic groove piece that explores the altered Dorian mode. Students and audiences will enjoy the rhythmic drive and find the melodic lines memorable.”

Throughout the United States, Kirt Mosier is a sought after composer and conductor.  His original works are inspiring, energetic and bring fresh sounds to the orchestra.  His rock orchestra arrangements are innovative and highly entertaining for the audience as well as all sections of the orchestra.

He has works published with the Neil A. Kjos Music Company , JW Pepper Music Company and  FJH Music Company.

Kirt Mosier has been a music educator for 28 years and is currently the director of orchestras at Lee’s Summit West High School in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.  Mr. Mosier has been with the Lee’s Summit School District since 1995.  He has also been an adjunct professor with the Conservatory of Music, University of Missouri at Kansas City.

He has twice won national composition awards. In 1993, Mr. Mosier’s piece Baltic Dance  won the National School Orchestra Association Composition Contest and in 2004, his piece American Reel won the 2004 Merle J. Isaac national composition contest. In 2010, The Portland Ballet Company of Portland, Maine, premiered The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, which was written by Mr. Mosier for this event.

Mr. Mosier has conducted honor groups throughout the United States, including all state orchestras in:  South Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri and Texas.
