Educator Spotlight at T.M.E.A.

This video blog series started as an amazing SmartMusic clinic at T.M.E.A. in January. I cut the original hour long clinic into easily digestable segments that average five minutes in length. The series highlights a different educator each week for eight weeks, and includes demonstrations on how they use SmartMusic. This elevates their programs, ranging from middle school band to college voice, and the information is great for anyone using SmartMusic at their school. Our first Educator Spotlight is:

Stephen Henry
Director of Bands, Industrial High School

In this clinic, Stephen Henry shows his peers how to “Finale it up” and motivate their students to practice. Mr. Henry believes that SmartMusic is the best way to manage his marching band, auditions, chair testing, and solo/ensemble preparation. He also talks about accompaniment benefits, and how the software works at every students pace. Using SmartMusic gives Stephen the ability to listen to every child play every single note of music performed this school year, even from his chair at T.M.E.A! This is great advice from an engaging educator.

Mr. Henry has 272 division 1 awards to his record, for a total of 69 composite division 1 ratings for his bands. His bands have won sixteen U.I.L. sweepstakes awards. The bands under his direction have consistently placed in the top 10 in state in both T.M.E.A. Honor Band, and the ATSSB Outstanding Performance Series contest. He has performed (as a student) at the Texas Music Educators Association convention on two occasions, and has perfomed at the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention once. His bands have performed at the Texas State Wind Ensemble Festival.
