SmartMusic adds 51 new titles, Including “1812 Overture”

Our repertoire team recently released 51 new ensemble titles, including Tschaikovsky’s “1812 Overture.” Did you know that Tchaikovsky calls for the use of cannons in this score? How cool is that?

Contrary to popular belief, Tschaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” was not written to depict America’s victory against Russia during the war of 1812. It was actually written to commemorate Russia’s successful defense of Moscow against Napoleon at the Battle of Borodino. Nothing like a refreshing history lesson during the summer!
