We are hearing more often that teachers are incorporating iPads into their curriculum. In response, MakeMusic made a commitment to bring assignment functionality to the SmartMusic iPad app for the 2013-14 school year. We are very proud to announce that this update is now available in the app store.

This version will allow students to complete assignments from the repertoire library on iPad. With a SmartMusic subscription, this free app gives your students access to the largest digital sheet music library with accompaniment in the world. Paired with SmartMusic’s new Rubrics and Association of Assignments to State Standard features released in August, this is a major update! Educators looking to document student progress and provide immediate feedback will benefit in new ways, and students now have more options to complete their assignments with a single subscription.

Here are a few screenshots to give you a quick preview of how to submit an assignment with SmartMusic on iPad:

This is the Assignments screen. Assignments are listed in chronological order, by due date.

After choosing the assignment they would like to complete, Assignment Details appear.

Similar to the desktop version, students will receive a warning if they are not practicing within the assignment details determined by their teacher.  Takes recorded in this manner may not be submitted for a grade. Get back to the assignment details that allow submission by tapping the Practice button.

Select a take, and tap Submit Take. Students will be asked to confirm the take to be submitted, tap Cancel to choose another take.

Choose Submit to submit the assignment for evaluation.

The assignment is now removed from the Assignments page.
