This month, in addition to solos and large ensemble titles, we’re also adding several all-time classic pop titles from the Warner Brothers archives. These go all the way back to full-blown legends like Sweet Georgia Brown and I’ve Got Rhythm, and TV classics, like Meet The Flintstones and Scooby Doo, to smash movie hits including Danger Zone (from Top Gun).
Providing students with pop content is clearly part of the SmartMusic program. These titles give students – and their parents – well-known, engaging repertoire, ideal for building confidence in their soloing. Assigning students regular solo material helps them to explore their instruments’ more virtuosic side and encourages freedom outside of class. Students also become more familiar with syncopation, swing-style, and playing with a piano accompaniment.
Most importantly, pop titles are fun, and fun gets played.
New Solos
We’ve also added – exclusively to new SmartMusic – several solos, starting with the Concert and Contest Collection solo books for Oboe and Bb Clarinet (Rubank/Hal Leonard). Plus we’ve overhauled Volume 4 in the Suzuki series for Violin and Cello with all new audio.
New Large Ensemble Titles
Also new in September are 18 large ensemble titles, available in both new and classic SmartMusic, for Concert Band and String Orchestra. See all the new titles.
